Journeying with people in hope, love and support...

The John Wallis Foundation continues the work of the Missionary Sisters of Service supporting people and communities experiencing hardship and disadvantage.

We are inspired by a world which demonstrates compassion, justice and love in equal measure to all.

The Foundation runs an annual Small Grants Program, a series of inspiring speakers events, and other activities to strengthen community relationships.

The Foundation is named in honour of Father John Wallis, founder of the Missionary Sisters of Service.

The mission of the Foundation is to go into the highways and byways, seeking initiatives that develop the spiritual and human potential of people and communities on the margins.

The John Wallis Foundation lives out the vision and spirit of the Missionary Sisters of Service. It has a preferential option for those on the margins – geographically, economically, culturally, socially or spiritually. It seeks to open doors for people to be empowered to live life to the full.

The John Wallis Foundation seeks to support the formation of individuals or groups for leadership for a just and compassionate world, through experiences and/or courses that facilitate and encourage the mission of God. Such formation includes opportunities which:

  • focus on the personal and spiritual formation of people and groups;
  • develop leadership and other skills which will benefit the wider community;
  • emphasise social justice, including eco-justice, healthy community relationships and structures, and the practice of a sustainable way of life;
  • Assist people, particularly young adults, to develop a sound grounding in their own faith tradition as a foundation for entering into dialogue and cooperation with people of goodwill of various faiths and cultures for the building up of healthy harmonious communities.
